Lovers of traditional wrestling in the Wa Municipality of the Upper West Region are set to experience nostalgic memories of their childhood days as they are treated with a traditional wrestling competition for the first in the municipality next weekend.
The event which is set to be held at the Tendanba Junior High School park in Wa on February 6, 2021, at 4pm, and comes as an audition to select four people to represent the region at the finals in Tamale will be telecast live by NTV.
They will be competing with other finalists from the Upper East and Northern regions for the ultimate prize at the grand finale to be held at the Aliu Mahama Sports Stadium in Tamale.
This was revealed by DJ Muza, a disc jockey of Pupieli FM, on Saturday, January 30, 2021, on W FM Saturday’s entertainment programme monitored by Tungsung Sports Desk.
According to him, the event would attract a gate fee of GH₵ 5.00 and GH₵ 10.00 for regular and VIP categories respectively, even though the venue is an open one.
Asked how it would be possible holding the event as such a venue at a rate, DJ Moza whilst laughing it off said the organizers who are coming from Tamale to hold the event, have their own unique way of erecting canopies at such a place to ensure that only those inside the perimeter are able to view the games.
He disclosed that about twenty people had already purchased the forms to take part in the competition adding, the ultimate winner in the grand finale in Tamale would take home a brand new car.
He however, assured spectators who may come to the event of a secured and safe environment at the venue.
