The Daffiema-Bussie- Issah constituency Parliamentary seat willbe the first to be announced in favour of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) on December 7, Alhaji Mustapha Goveir, the Upper West Regional Organizer of the NPP has said.
According to him, this would be made a reality because the constituency has the lowest number of registered voters of about18000 coupled with the “general acceptability” of the NPP’s Parliamentary Candidate (PC) of the area, honourable Imoru Sanda, who also happens to be the District Chief Executive ofDBI.
He noted that the PC stood the chance of wrestling the seat away from the incumbent MP since he was always in touch with the constituents while positively impacting their lives with developmental projects.
The influential politician made this known on Thursday December 3, 2020, in an interview with Dimbie Jamal alias DJ Chelsea, on Sung-maale FM’s Nosourisung Morning Show program Monitored by Tungsungradio where he sought to assess the chances of the Parliamentary Candidates in their constituencies.
On the likely outcome of the Parliamentary elections in Sissala East constituency, Mustapha Goveir played down the chances of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) PC and declared the election as a straight fight between the candidate of the NPP, honourable Hamidu Chinniah who doubles as the Deputy Upper West Regional Minister, and that of the People’s National Convention (PNC).
He was optimistic that despite the seeming rift between the incumbent MP and the PC, the Deputy Minister was in the lead to winning the Sissala East seat which had been changing hands between the NDC and PNC until in 2016, when the NPP managed to annex it for the first time by the outgoing Member of Parliament – honourable Ridwan Abass.
Asked about the chances of the candidates in the Jirapa constituency, Alhaji Goveir, stated the NPP candidate, Derry Gobaa would emerge as the winner of the polls having won the seat before even as an independent candidate. He pontificated he felt sorry for the NDC PC, Cletus Dapila, knowing he was going to lose in the elections even though he is a friend to him.
About the outcome of the Lambusie Constituency Parliamentary elections, the outspoken politician believed the NDC was slightly ahead in winning the seat.
On the chances of the Parliamentary Candidates in the Lawra Constituency, Mr. Goveir gave an outright win to the incumbent MP, Abayifaa Karbo, despite the recent disturbances that occurred in the party between the camp of the MP and the suspended Constituency Chairman of the NPP, Alhaji Muhammed Donkoh.
He poured cold water on the claim the NDC’s PC for Lawra Constituency, Bede Ziedeng and the former MP of the area, honourable Abu Sampson had smoked the peace pipe, alleging it could just be a lip service other than a reality.
Alhaji Goveir however, bemoaned over concentration of campaigning for the Parliamentary Candidates at the expense of the Presidential Candidate during elections which he claimed, was the cause of the party’s inability to substantially increase the margin of votes of Presidential elections in the region.
